One of the most topical issues since last month has been the National ICT Policy review that Zimbabwe’s Ministry of ICT is currently undertaking. With the consultative workshops that were held last month completed, the ICT Ministry is now putting together the new draft policy. Next will be a validation workshop to be held in Harare at the HICC on 14 August 2012, exactly a week from now.
A number of articles have been written about the process by us, a participant, as well as the Atwell Mukusha, the Computer Society of Zimbabwe president. A key part of the review workshops was the presentation of the 2005 policy, which is being reviewed. Participants were presented with this document and asked to go through it so they can provide their views on this policy and add new policy aspects for the new one.
We’ve uploaded a copy of the 2005 policy here. We got it from the ICT Ministry’s website and decided to make a redundant copy for future reference.
Does it still encroach into broadcasting?
