Every time I mention that there’s a robotics schooling initiative for kids (and adults as well if they want) here in Harare, I’m met with genuine surprise that such stuff is happening locally, so usually I have to send a link to a robotics tournament we covered last year. But you don’t have to wish you had attended that event to witness it, the organisation behind the initiative, called TEST, is hosting a Robotics Day next month (26 July) at 11 Phillips Ave, Belgravia, harare.
Here are the full details of the event as announced:
Trust for Education in Science Technology (TEST) is hosting its ROBOTICS DAY to be held on the 26th of July under the theme “KEEP THE CITY CLEAN”. This is a day that people of all ages from all walks of life come to have fun with robotics. Many schools in and around Harare are invited and you can expect most FIRST LEGO League (FLL) schools to be present to take part in this momentous occasion.
This is a great opportunity for your FLL teams to practice their skills, share and learn with
other teams and have fun. The entrance cost is about $2.50 per pupil depending on team size ($15 for the Robotics entry and $10 for the science presentation). This fee is to help us cover venue expenses. This is the first ever Robotics day in Zimbabwe so we would like to invite you to participate
in this year’s Robotics day Completion. We expect the venue to be at a University in Harare
– we will advise you on this once we have confirmation from the university. You may find
more details at https://sites.google.com/site/robofestzim and your team can register at
www.test.co.zw.
