The countdown to the ZOL Startup Challenge continues with heightened interest from the public around the various activities that will be part of this tech entrepreneurship showcase.
Other than the ten interesting startup ideas being pitched on the day, attendees will have a chance to listen to different fireside chats that will explore important points related to investment in online businesses in Zimbabwe, as well as the local tech startup Ecosystem.
People can look forward to the different perspectives on how the internet has evolved into a platform for business opportunity, an aspect that underpins the ZOL Startup Challenge.
The first fireside chat will be with Garth Drummond, founder of Classifieds.co.zw and Webdev Africa. Garth is a seasoned online entrepreneur who has enjoyed successes and braved the challenges surrounding investment in internet based businesses in Zimbabwe. He will be sharing his thoughts and experiences as a successful African tech entrepreneur in Zimbabwe.
Another fireside chat will be with Victor Chaitezvi, the Business Development Manager for Microsoft South Africa. He will open up on his experiences in the investment that is being channeled towards small tech businesses on the continent.
The third fireside chat will be on the internet opportunity in Zimbabwe, and how connectivity is weighing in on entrepreneurship. David Behr and Denny Marandure from ZOL will be sharing their insights on this topic, and drawing on parallels with other markets in Africa and beyond.
To round up the day there will a panel discussion on the technology hubs that we have seen emerge in the past year. Representatives from Muzinda, Hypercube, Emerging Ideas, Sky Hub and Area 46 will help shed light on the role they have been playing in growing the tech ecosystem.
The ZOL Startup Challenge is Zimbabwe’s largest tech startup showcase.It will be happening on Friday the 7th of November in Harare.
