The Internet Society of Zimbabwe and the telecoms regulator, POTRAZ, today hosted a workshop in Harare to help players and professionals in the tech sector understand more the concept of Internet Exchanges, the benefits and best practices. The event was attended by the deputy minister of the ICT Ministry, Win Mlambo. Local internet providers were also represented by engineers and technology leaders involved in IXP related stuff.
The workshop was facilitated by Michuki Mwangi, the ISOC Regional Development Manager. He made a great presentation on IXPs, the Peering and Interconnection Economics, and the peering strategies to be explored by the players locally which we will share here later. You can download here. If you work in the sector or are curious to understand internet provider economics, this is a great presentation to go through.
Here are some photos we took at the event:

“deputy minister of the tech sector”

was lazy, sorry. it confuses some ministries. It’s supposed to be deputy minister of ICT and Courier Services. Will fix.
