WhatsApp development forum WABeta says it is working on a feature that notifies the person you are video chatting with of your low battery.

The banner will be placed right in the middle of the screen on both parties and it being tested on both Android and iOS platforms.
This feature made its first appearances on WhatsApp web were if your smartphone battery runs low you get a notification on your PC on the WhatsApp Web window.
