It’s Friday and here is the deal:
So visualize this. You’re in the living room enjoying some tv after a long day at work. Unexpectedly a blackout hits you and before you know it you are feeling your way to where you think the torch/lantern is.
In the process your shins and toes will be attacking the furniture further making it a long night. Oh and the cherry on top you may ask? You forgot to charge it.
Thankfully we have the Strom Load Shed-Proof LED Lamp and what makes it feature in this week’s #TechzimDeals is:
- It is an LED light bulb meaning it will be very kind to your ZESA tokens.
- It works as a normal light bulb charging the internal battery when power is available and providing up to 5hrs of illumination after a power outage.
It operates as a normal light bulb so if there is a power outage it stays on like nothing happened running on the inbuilt battery. As soon as power comes back it resumes charging.
It comes in both the screw type and the more common bayonet type with a choice of 3, 5, 7 and 9 watt variants. So winter has arrived people and power will not be the luxury it has been this past summer. Get yourself a 5 Watt Strom Load Shed-Proof LED Lamp here for just $17.

Good one, but I am not sure if the price is good
Great idea but a bit pricey for Zim market.
We have had a similar product for close to 2 years and our 7w bulb sells for only $9
Who is ‘we’?
Cell Services have got the same product for less than half this price. I bought several from them and they work very well.
how long does it *hold* charge? It will not be charging when light switch is off
how do you switch it off? Is it controlled from the normal switch even if there is no ZESA?
I have used the Cell Servces one before, very powerful and lasts even longer than the 7 hours and is half the proce of this one
I bought that bulb some time ago and it’s crap. The idea is good but the battery loses charge after a few weeks of use. Eventually it will just be like an ordinary bulb with no light if there is no zesa. It’s better to buy a good quality emergency light with LEDs and a big battery..
I bought several bulbs last year from Cell Services and they are working well. I paid $7 for a 7w LED intelligent bulb and up to now I have no problem with them. $17 for 5w is just too expensive.
For $17 one can buy 17 x 5w LED bulbs and at least 170kwh of ZESA (which can last 17 days for a family of 4). I don’t really know the science behind their pricing but having 5 hours of lighting when ZESA has gone and paying for $17 for that doesn’t seem to be a very brilliant idea, cost-wise. The convenience is great, though. Cost/Benefit analysis for this product, to me, is on the negative.
