We contacted POTRAZ to get the details of the terms and conditions of applying for the ICT Innovation Drive fund for startups that was announced yesterday. Techzim got a response to some of the questions and have included those answers below.
A key thing that has become clear is that the funds that startups are applying for are loans and not grants. This means that the startups will need to pay back at some point (6, 12 or 36 months depending on stage of the company).
POTRAZ also makes it clear that successful applicants will be assigned mentors and will get access to business and technical training.
Below is everything POTRAZ has provided us so far as responses:
You can actually download the full document POTRAZ sent to us here.

can a website be considered as a ICT innovation…say a website like zimclassifieds
“Any ICT based product, service, business model, or process that is new to the market with a unique feature(s) that is successfully implemented to address a current need in a new /better way, or to satisfy a newly created demand when developed and deployed.”
If it has a unique selling point then yes.
How confidential will those ideas be, considering the fact that not all of the ideas will get funding. If I fail to get funding, will my idea not get exposed to other financially stable implementors
There is an official document with the full terms and conditions on the POTRAZ website http://www.potraz.gov.zw/images/Potraz_Innovation_Fund_Campaign_Advert.pdf.
Mostly the same as the document shared here, but the grant funding option is not there leaving the only funding option as “a loan”.
What interest if any is on the loan? Nothing seems indicated above or in the pdf.
