DStv as of tomorrow will be reducing it’s monthly subscription. The new subscriptions will be as follows:
Premium $65
Compact plus $40
Compact $25
Family $17
Access $11
DStv lite $7
The current subscriptions are as follows
Premium $72
Compact plus $47
Compact $28
Family $17
Access $11
Why is DStv doing this? While we are expecting prices to go up, DStv chooses to reduce it’s prices. Just this weekend, we underwent a ‘panic phase’ due to the rise of the USD value on the cash black market. Is it because they know that the availability of USD for the ordinary citizen is about to be a serious problem? We would have suspected this to have something to do with Kwese, but as it stands Kwese still has some serious legal work to deal with and we don’t expect it up anytime soon.
But then again, this could be a way to get you subscribing and falling in love so that when Kwese or TelOne (yes, we still waiting) comes around, they would have held fort and hence the reluctance of customers to shift. Speaking of which, you might want to read more on how we think DStv isn’t really competing with the likes of Kwese but rather with the internet.
However, if you notice there hasn’t been any reductions on the Family and Access bouquet. So the question would be how effective will is this price reduction for Zimbabweans be, considering that DStv only accepts USD which is quite scarce at the moment.

Are they accepting bond and rtgs? That was the main issue of contention
So they created a new bouquet Dstv lite??? With the bank charge you won’t see the difference
someone pliz correct me is it a reduction or an increase pa Dstv Family
Neither – price remains the same.
as long as they are insisting on hard currency they can go hang, some of us have ways of paying in SA
good day.pls ow can I go about to sub thru SA?
Look on the brightest side.
Tirikuda better content kuSport isu + easy the payment methods otherwise hapana hapana!
What will be the new rate for Indian plus Premium plus extra view??
Saka muchirikuntsa nepayment options here? but either way, your days are numbered DSTV, ini ndakkubaya as soon as Kwese yaita bho
Kwese ndizvo
These people! We would be happy if we were manufacturing USD.
Kwese doesn’t broadcast soccer matches eg the one and only EPL so for now it is useless.
hapana hapana apa, i thnk an introduction of a better and easy payment option for zimboz would have a great impact, considering people opting for kwese is mainly due to the easy payment option rather than content wise. anyway i’m rather favouring opting for video on demand to stay free from all the hustles
They should accept ecocash
AS LONG AS THEY INSIST ON US $ THERE IS NO DEAL. PAYMENT METHODS ARE GETTING US RIPPED UP COZ THE SO CALLED AGENCIES DEMAND DOUBLE WHEN YOU PAY IN BOND NOTES. THERE IS NO DEAL HERE. LET THERE BE MORE COMPETITION
they did not mention bank charges which makes no difference to their price reduction…..These guys should go hang we don’t manufacture U$D
whats that useless lite for .. its got nothing but free channels
good day.pls ow can I go about to sub thru SA?
The reduction of subscriptions came at a price for compact package as DSTV scraped IROKO TV (ROK) from the banquet.
