Computer Society Summer School 2009

The 2009 Computer Society of Zimbabwe (CSZ) Summer School will be held this weekend at Montclaire Hotel in Nyanga. The Summer School provides a platform for IT professionals to learn the latest developments in the ICT profession and generally serves as a great networking opportunity with fellow geeks. Normally open to CSZ members only, this year’s event has been unlocked for non-members in the hope of drumming up more subscriptions to the society.

Summer School 2009 runs from the 5 to 8 November 2009 and features a wide selection of topics presented by notable industry figures, some from beyond our borders. International Federation for Information Processing current president, Basie von Solms will give the keynote address and presentation on ‘Information Security Governance’.  Other topics to be presented include;

  • Open Source – Thomas Heubner from Novell Africa
  • Business Leader Perspective – Driving Change Through Technology by Dr Peter Chikumba the Air Zimbabwe CEO
  • Human Networking as an Engine for Business Growth by esteemed motivational speaker Milton Kamwendo
  • Recruitment Skills for Non-HR Managers by Catherine J Bhika a Managing Consultant with CV People Africa
  • Disaster Recovery in a shrinking Economy by Brian Mukudzavhu – Director Axis Sol
  • ICDL  – Geoff Fairall the ICDL CSA Director
  • Mobile and Wireless IT by Nhena Nyagura the Business Development Director  at Africom

The Minister of ICT, Nelson Chamisa will give a ‘special address’ at the event. The CSZ last held a Summer School in 2007. 2008 was filled with numerous challenges that ensured no such luxuries
