Android Developer Challenge

Android Developer ChallengeToday, Google unveiled the “Android Developer Challenge”, a contest for developers in Sub-Saharan Africa to develop mobile applications for the Google Android platform. The competition is open to people residing in all Sub-Saharan African countries excluding Sudan. We are not sure why Sudan is being left out here. It runs until the 1st of July this year.

Contestants, which can be individuals or a team, are required to develop and submit mobile applications in one of 3 categories namely; Entertainment, Social Networking and Productivity. Winners in each category will walk away with US $25,000 each and finalists will get Android mobile phones. We’re assuming that will be Samsung Google Nexus S.

Anyway, if you can hold your own as a developer, this is the chance you’ve been praying for. Besides the bag of cash, there’s the enormous exposure that you and your application will get from this.

Please confirm is Zimbabwe included? I read a statement on the google android website saying that countries subject to U.S. sanctions are excluded, that is in fact why Sudan has been explicitly excluded. Thanks in advance for your quick response.
