Appfrica announced today the winners of the 2012 Apps4Africa business app challenge. The three winners of the 3rd edition of the challenge are startups from Nigeria, Uganda and Ghana. Each of the three will get US $10,000. The winning startups were selected from a list of 30 finalists announced 3 weeks ago.
Here are the details of the winning startups:
Founder – Titus Mawano
Ffene is simplified web based business managed application that helps small and medium business owners run more efficiently by keeping track of their finances, customers and inventory. The app can be used both on desktops and on mobile devices.
Prowork (Nigeria)
Founders – Francis Onwumere, Opeyemi Obembe, Ernest Ojeh
Prowork is a mobile and web project management which the startup says compares to applications like Basecamp. Here’s the apps explainer video;
SliceBiz (Ghana)
Founders – William Edem Senyo, Heather Cochran
SliceBiz, is crowdfunding platform for mobile and web tech startups. The platform provides “alternative funding” for startups. The startup was also a winner at a Startup Weekend competition held in Accra Ghana in November 2012.
