TelOne today launched new broadband services in Victoria Falls. 16 Days before the UNWTO General Assembly, the company has put up 22 Wi-Fi hotspots in the area. The development comes after the completion of the fibre optic connection between Victoria Falls and Bulawayo. The fibre link is aimed to avail low cost and fast internet to Vic Falls. (Update after establishing the fact that TelOne has not completed an all fibre link between the two places.)
Meanwhile TelOne is also getting broadband internet bandwidth from Namibia telecom through West Africa Cable System (WACS) to ensure constant service uptime during the event. The 22 Wi-Fi hotspots cover the whole resort town and the data bundle prices are quite competitive when compared to prices of services that are already available in the area. The prices are as listed below.
Tel One data bundle prices
Bundle – MB | Price US$ | Valid for |
50 | 1 | 30 days |
120 | 2 | 30 days |
400 | 5 | 60 days |
1024 | 10 | 60 days |
2560 | 20 | 365 days |
You can see the prices of the comparable mobile internet services here.
Those are some Kick-A$$ prices. Hopefully one day those will be the prices when one dials *140#….
we all wish!
Yaay! Yaay!
But only for the event. After that, its TelOne over subscription time!

Good move by TelOne.
Sorry to burst your bubble but this report is incorrect, Telone has no existing Optic Fibre link between Bulawayo and Vic Falls, its all microwave. Only Liquid Telecom has that infrastructure!!!
Thanks for the correct. The story was updated.
