Although none of the events are purely tech, tech start-ups can benefit from the management aspects of running a business which they will need to balance with the technical ability. Here’s a summary of events that will be taking place locally.
Entrepreneurs Meet-Up at the Celebration Centre
This event is being organised by Emerging Ideas co-founded by young entrepreneurs Tommy Deuschle and Tim Bickers. The Meet-up is a primarily a networking event to, “give Start-Ups a platform from which to connect, engage and contribute to each other’s success. It will also be a platform to provide Entrepreneurs with a valuable interface to corporate Zimbabwe”.
Emerging Ideas runs a start-up incubation program which already has a number of successes listed here. Entrepreneurs who attend this event should expect to acquire the knowledge, skills and networks needed to grow innovative and sustainable businesses.

GEW Creativity Training
Creativity is probably the most telling trait in entrepreneurs. Ideas don’t come easy and this crush course will help in systemic ideas generation and creativity for improved innovation. This course will be run by Zimbabwe Entrepreneur Zone in conjunction with Entrecorporate, a local corporate training firm specialising in creativity, innovation and problem solving in business.
This event is free but there is a registration process to follow via email and whatsapp.

Take Charge! Of Your Own Business
This will be hosted online from 18 November 2013 to 24 November 2013.
This online activity will be a case study, chronicling the journey of one young African lady in Zimbabwe and learning points as she started her small business in 2011 when her department at work was closed. Every day will be a build up from the previous one and the brief daily chronicle will be broadcast on social network www.facebook.com/InvestorSaint
Each day will respond to a question asked by start-ups such as why business, which business, when business, how business, and where business – and will deal with entrepreneur motivation, idea generation, timing, formalizing, funding, operationalizing and marketing, and mastery.
