Mxit today announced the release of Mxit 7 for feature phones. The South African mobile social network company announced a new version of the popular mobile app with new added features and enhanced ones.
Mxit 7 is a significant departure from previous versions. It offers a more engaging and faster chat experience, easier navigation and a clean, sleek user interface.We are really excited about what this means for our users – the people who use YOUR brand app on Mxit!
Mxit has updated groups to allow chat with multiple friends and photo or audio sharing. Mxit 7 profiles will now have larger images and more profile information. Feature phones that’s support push notifications will also be able to receive offline chat messages.
According to Mxit, the new version uses less data and is lighter on memory usage than previous versions.
Mxit also announced that Mxit 7 for iOS 7 will be released on Friday, 15 November, and for Android and BlackBerry sometime in December.
This new version is expected to work on over 8,000 devices and this release seems to be a deliberate attempt to stay relevant to a large chunk of their market that still use feature phones. Mxit has 7.4 million monthly active users. 6.5 million of these are in South Africa.
