We have been hands on with the app and it does all we expected it to do although some of the information is not complete yet. For example, for Harare province the app only has contact details of the central police station and Harare OPS. Other provinces are more comprehensive in terms of information available.
For directions, the Road Angels Assist app has preset directions ( e.g Harare to Bulawayo, Gweru to Beitbridge, Harare to Nyamapanda, etc) and it launches Google Maps to give directions. Surprisingly, the app doesn’t communicate the diction chosen to the Maps app meaning users will have to re-input their destination in Google Maps making. A bit redundant as it’s more of a launcher. The distance presets are also limited to select and common long distance routes but people normally get lost in urban centers.
The team at Road Angels may want to rethink the directions feature by synchronising it with a proper navigation app and replacing direction presets with a feature that gives users the option to input their own directions enquiry, especially for urban areas.
However, these limitations don’t take away much from some of really useful features on the Road Angels Assist app. The app has a mechanic on-call feature which gives users 24hr access to a mechanic for telephonic assistance with minor mechanical problems for free.
The road fines feature is also comprehensive and the distance calculator will come in handy when planning long distance trips around the country.
You can download the app here and let us know what you think in the comment section.

Sweet, am downloading as I type.
For Techzim, please may I suggest you add QR codes inside your article for things like apps, makes it easier to scan and receive, unless you’ve invented a SBEAM-to-Monitor app. Now that would be cool!
My first impression of the app is it is quite useful. You are right in saying Harare could do with a bit more numbers. Thankfully it isn’t quite as hard to get help in Harare as it is in some more remote locations. The best part for me has got to be the fines. It won’t kill corruption by the cops but it will go a long way in ensuring that they don’t rob citizens in broad day light. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!! Well done Road Angels.
