Predictable how the response came so fast, but lovely to see nonetheless. This is why competition is such a lovely a thing. After seeing Telecash use simplicity as one of the main selling points – and getting praises from the market for it – it finally occurred to Econet more than two years later that the EcoCash USSD menu access code actually is complicated (for nothing, it’s now clear), and that changing this should be top priority.
Change they have. Where you needed to cram *151*200# these past two years, Econet has changed that USSD code to just *151#. Without the threat of a competitor, EcoCash subscribers would likely still be stuck with a menu that sucked.
We hope there’s more inspired simplicity coming to EcoCash. Specifically, on the biller favourites front. No one wants to remember an unstructured 5 digit DStv biller code just so they can pay for TV.
