No, it isn’t a call for “adult entertainers”, just an invitation to try out for the 9th edition of Big Brother Africa.
Auditions for what is arguably the most successful reality show across Africa will take place at Meikles Hotel Harare this weekend. (12 & 13 July 2014) This year’s edition is meant to engage potential housemates through auditions in their respective countries.
As long as you meet the criteria specified above, have a valid passport from one of the 14 participating countries and are also creative, original and articulate(English please) you can be chosen to be a participants that could win the $300,000. There really is no need to launch a campaign to be chosen.
Big Brother Africa is produced by ENDEMOL SA and will be flighted on Multichoice’s DStv for 90 days starting on the 7th of September. Not to worry sports fans, the World Cup won’t be affected.
The show has been successful at engaging viewers through extensive mainstream and social media coverage. The show also incorporates a voting system through mobile networks in countries throughout Africa and through the official website.
Just like every other successful reality show Big Brother has managed to capitalise on the engagement and reach of social media platforms. These have helped turn a show about a group of adults just “chilling” in a house for 3 months into mainstream television.
If you feel you have what it takes and can live without internet for 3 months then go and give it a shot. There is $300, 000 up for grabs after all.
