After weeks of preparation and build up, local innovation fair Innovation Baraza is underway. The event kicked off at 10 am, and there has been a huge turnout from various stakeholders.

Innovation Baraza is aimed at giving 40 different innovators the opportunity to showcase their ideas, while vying to be shortlisted as one of five promising innovators that will get to go to the prestigious Simba Savannah Investors Forum.

So far, the 40 teams have been exhibiting their ideas and solutions to everyone who has attended the event, including a panel of judges that will select 10 teams to pitch later today in the Innovation Hunt. 5 teams will be selected from this group of 10, and they will be prepped for a final pitch to potential investors later this year.

The Ministry of ICT has also been represented at the event, and the key address was made by the Permanent Secretary In the Ministry of ICT, Eng Sam Kundishora.

There’s still a lot going on at the event, and it’s open to the public, so if you want to check out some of the ideas being exhibited you can still drop in at Baraza Pavillion in Tynwald, Harare.
