Opera includes a free VPN in its latest browser release

Whether you want to watch the American Netflix, want to be anonymous on the internet, are are freaked out about the possibility of a government snooping on your internet activities, a VPN is the tool of choice. But usually you have to pay for it, or you have to deal with one comprise or the other. Opera has leased a browser that may be the most convinient VPN solution out there.

Opera has included a free VPN in the developer version of its desktop browser. In an announcement made today on its blog to launch the new browser feature, the company said it wants VPNs to be available to everyone.” Until now, most VPN services and proxy servers have been limited and based on a paid subscription. With a free, unlimited, native VPN that just works out-of-the-box and doesn’t require any subscription,” they said.

With the inbuilt VPN, users can hide their IP address, unblock firewalls and websites that have restrictions and make their traffic more secure when using public WiFi internet.

It will be interesting to see how big a deal a free VPN is to users generally and how this move will impact Opera’s browser market share significantly.
