Telone Center for learning will be launching a Bachelor of Engineering Honors Degree in Telecommunications Engineering. This comes after a partnership with National University of Science and Technology who will act as mentors to TCFL on this degree programme.

TechZim received an invite for the launch that is to be held on Friday the 14th of October 2016 at TCFL with our Vice President Hon. E.D Mnangagwa being the guest of honor.

Entry requirements include

5 Ordinary level passes including Mathematics, Science and English.

3 Advanced level passes in Mathematics, Physics and  any other A level Science subject.

The degree is a 5 year full-time (Conventional Programme) which was officially announced in July this year and had been left cold till now.

We asked for more information on the specifics of the degree programme with relation to when it is commencing, the application process as well as requirements, the number of semesters per year, if they are planning on offering block-releases, how well the degree will be recognized locally and internationally, if any other institutions will be offering the degree as well in other regions of the country or it will be exclusive to TCFL as well how much it will cost per semester.

We are still waiting for a response from the coordinators and we will surely bring up an update if they come through before the actual launch.

we dont need more degree please. Telone should just focus on its core-business, there is a lot to be done there.

Yes, for engineering you need that. this is not a technician program, its a degree program. i think TelOne will continue to offer the technician programs, you can enroll for that.

Still stuck in the 50s, why do you need Physics to do Telecoms engineering?

I’m guessing the electronic circuits involved in telecoms have something to do with this.

Its only standard practice for serious engineering programs worldwide. Nothing strange about these requirements.
