TechZim is a very well-written blog containing solid information. It takes resources to keep something like that going. Yet, the internet has become so flooded with advertisements that my brain filters them out before they reach my consciousness. At this point in internet history, I do not think posting advertisements is a good business model, although I realize people can not afford to pay for subscriptions. It is an interesting conundrum.
Yes indeed! The interesting thing about the internet is the rate of change. New business models are born everyday, I think we will be surprised about how online publications will be making money two years from now
One hopes that the rate of change will yield something besides pop-overs and force-feeds of video and audio. Why any company thinks I would buy something from an intrusive organization that wastes my bandwidth is beyond me.
Yea! I don’t know why our clever cousins in Marketing think they can buy our loyalty by annoying us
I never ever click on the ads in google search results. I experienced that after such a click, I get followed by similar ads no matter what web page I open which can be quite annoying. The only solution to shake it off would be to clear my browsing history including all cookies (which is not always a nice thing). These days on my mobile phone when I want to search for something and have to click on the ads, I do so from private browsing mode so that cookies will be cleared automatically after the session ends.
I understand you. There is need to improve on this crazy fascination with following and overselling. If used moderately ads could add to the user experience just like in print magazines. I don’t think we will get to that point soon. Should Techzim switch off adverts?
