Powertel today enters the vehicle tracking and fleet management market.
They just unveiled PowerTrack, a full fleet management solution. Here is the list of services on offer:
- Real Time Vehicle Tracking
- Fleet management
- Panic button
- Stolen Vehicle Recovery
- Driver Behaviour Monitoring
- Geo-Fencing
- Multiple Driver Identification
Powertel partners Cumii to connect the car tracking systems. The same company that Econet Connected Car partnered.
You may know Cumii as that Internet of Things (IoT) company that connects fleets of cars, generators, homes, energy and health.
Cumii Zimbabwe (Private) Limited is 51% owned by Econet but Econet does not have control because of a shareholders’ agreement.
Econet themselves are in the vehicle tracking and fleet management sector through Econet Connected Car. They offer similar services to the ones PowerTrack will be offering.
Econet Connected Car has come a long way since they launched a few years back. They won the ‘Most Innovative Vehicle Tracking and Monitoring Company of the Year Award’ at the Zimbabwe Private Security Awards held in September this year.
PowerTrack will have to come out guns blazing to compete in this sector where established players like Trackit, Sky-Track and EzyTrack are still vying for top spot.
