Liquid Telecoms has introduced the LiquidNEXT program which will aim to support startups and developers. The program is also in partnership with Innovation Village Kampala, a Launchpad accelerator.

The money is on the table

15 Startups along with a 100 developers will get $250 each month for one year. On top of this if you apply and get accepted you will also have ‘exclusive’ access to Microsoft developers and Azure experts.

You probably know Liquid Telecom (AKA internet access provider, active in over 10 countries) but you have probably never heard of Innovation Village. Innovation Village is an innovation Launchpad from Uganda and they cater for ‘leading innovators and entrepreneurs.’ Here is a sneak peek of their vision:

We are building an entire ecosystem of entrepreneurs and innovators in what is growing to become a business solutions provider for our biggest challenges or opportunities. From helping entrepreneurs launch and grow high-impact ventures to attracting regional and global opportunities, our ecosystem approach converges multiple partners including public, private, academia, research and civil society as one force for good

Everyone is welcome: Yes even the smaller guy!

The LiquidNEXT program is probably the result of Microsoft’s partnership with Liquid Telecom. As part of this program, Liquid will be selling Microsoft cloud services (Windows 10, Microsoft Azure, Office 365 etc) on behalf of Microsoft.

When the partnership was announced, I thought they were only targeting large enterprise businesses but it seems I was very wrong. The startups and developers are being fully embraced and this move is Liquid and Microsoft putting their money where their mouth is.

What’s Azure about anyway?

Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing service created by Microsoft for building, testing, deploying, and managing applications and services through a global network of Microsoft-managed data centers. With the service, users can create virtual machines, SQL Databases, build applications and also have access to cloud storage.
