So yesterday we published an article about how South African businesses are being allowed to cherry pick the DSTV channels they want. Well DSTV Zimbabwean business customers can cherry pick too. Well sort of. There are base packages that businesses have to subscribe to. They can then add channels of their choice on a per channel basis that is the dream.
These business packages are meant to suit the needs of various businesses depending on who they are. In fact the practice where sports clubs are subscribing to home DSTV premium package might well be a violation of Multi-choice terms and conditions-you know that stuff in small print we never bother to read. (Update:The guys at Multichoice confirmed that indeed this was a violation.)
There are four packages that businesses can choose from:
- Hotel bouquet- this is obviously for hotels and similar businesses
- Office bouquet- something to take your mind off work or maybe in your waiting room
- Restricted viewing bouquet-has more movie channels
- Pub and clubs bouquet

Let us direct our attention back to the Office Bouquet
While there is clear business case for the other three packages and the prices reflect that, the Office Bouquet is interesting. I for one would be very happy if Multichoice were to offer this package. As I have said many times before I have zero interest in watching Pawn Stars .Shows like this and Hunting Hitler make me want to smash my TV. All I want to do is watch sports including rugby, test cricket, EPL and UEFA in particular.
At $24.50 the same price as Compact, the Office bouquet is all I have been looking for. When it comes to watching movies there are cheaper options such as iFlix, Netflix, DEOD (seriously Telone, DEOD is a terrible name) and Shomax. Here I have more control, I can watch the movie I want when I want. I can microwave pop corn and pretend to enjoy The River when my wife makes me. She can pause the show without an ominous ticker telling her the episode will expire in 3 days.
In fact you could pay for the Office bouquet, subscribe to Netflix (HD), DEOD, Shomax and iFlix and still have about $10 to spare when compared to the Premium bouquet. That is assuming internet is a sunk cost for you as it is to me. You see I have to pay for internet for work purposes anyway. Might as well make it work for me. Those who see value in premium can continue.
A sports package for home users like Office Bouquet-that is the dream. I await the day Multichoice will make that a reality.
