Remember last year EcoCash introduced the EcoCash Business Wallet, which businesses can use to move their EcoCash funds freely? The wallet allows businesses to move as much as $50 000 a month depending on the size of the business.
The Business Wallet was only accessible through the USSD, *152# when it was introduced. As a result, many users never got to know that there’s an EcoCash Business Wallet app they can use instead of having to use the wallet by responding to prompts on the USSD. Using an app is certainly much quicker to perform transactions than on the USSD.
The app is just like the app of the ordinary EcoCash account both in terms of its looks (I mean interface) and performance. Of course, being a Business Wallet, many of the features that are on the ordinary EcoCash account are not available here – kinda like a stripped down version but its not.
How to get started with the app
- You only need to download and install the app from the Google Play Store
- Enter your EcoCash Business Wallet/merchant SIM card credentials to log in the account.
- Now start to transact

Is this a competitor to EcoLedger? Econet has been sending out SMSes distancing themselves from EcoLedger, which is normally part of a plot to promote their own half-baked offerings.
