WhatsApp’s New Chat Themes Mean You Don’t Need GBWhatsApp Anymore

The last time we talked about why you should consider uninstalling GBWhatsApp, some said they only use it for its customization options.

For those people, you have no excuse now. WhatsApp is now rolling out some sweet customization features. You don’t need GBWhatsApp for that anymore—unless you were lying about the customization and it was about the promiscuity all along.

WhatsApp chat themes have been rolled out to all users on Android and iOS. Check them out; I think you’ll find at least one you like.

There are more than 20 built-in options, and they can’t all be crap. You can even customize the chat bubble color of outgoing messages for the preset options.

On top of that, there are some sweet new wallpapers. If that’s too flamboyant and you’d prefer a solid color as the background, you can still do that.

If you’d like to see your little face behind your chats like the little narcissist that you are, you can still pick any photo from your gallery as the wallpaper and customize the chat bubble colors.

What’s more, you can still have custom themes for different chats. You could have one theme for everybody or give each person their own little theme, so you get visual clues about who you’re talking to.

For example, you could set your work chats’ theme to black and white so that you never send inappropriate stuff in there. The dreary black and white will remind you this one is not for play.

You can have your other chats as colorful as you like, and your work and personal stuff can coexist without issue.

Here’s how you can try out the new themes:

On Android:

To change the theme for all chats:

  • Tap the three dots in the top right corner.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Chats.
  • Tap Default chat theme.

To change the theme for an individual chat:

  • Go to your chat with the individual.
  • Tap the three dots in the top right corner.
  • Tap Chat theme.

On iOS:

To change the theme for all chats:

  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Chats.
  • Tap Default chat theme.

To change the theme for an individual chat:

  • Go to your chat with the individual.
  • Tap their name or profile picture.
  • Tap Chat theme.

I know we’ll get some Telegram users telling us how their app has had these features for years, etc. To be honest, we don’t care. Most of us preferred different apps, but the people chose WhatsApp, and that’s all we use. Who cares how fast Telegram gets some features?

I don’t use GB because of the fear of being hacked but why would changing wallpapers and themes be any special? I like GB’s things like scheduling messages. There are times I remember I want to message someone then I see it is very late so it would be nice if WhatsApp had this feature
