Econet says it was deprived of over $130 million in revenues through government & regulatory interference
In a statement accompanying its consolidated annual financial results, Econet's chairman Dr. J Meyers highlighted how the regulatory directive to reduce tariffs as well as the 5% tax added to all airtime prejudiced the operator of $95 million and $30 million respectively.

Econet Wireless’ Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) declines to $6.84, the lowest since dollarisation
This number was shared in the mobile operator's consolidated annual financial results published recently. At less than $7 this is the lowest ARPU total that Econet has recorded ever since Zimbabwe adopted a multi-currency system in 2009.

NetOne to install 3,000 base stations in network project, sets eyes on 10 million subscriber capacity
The additional infrastructure is expected to give NetOne the capacity to connect 10 million subscribers at a time. NetOne currently has 4.3 million active subscribers and it plans to sign on 5 million more subscribers.

Zimbabwe LTE use increases by 23% – 152,000 active subscriptions recorded
According to the latest quarterly report from the telecoms regulator POTRAZ, in the first quarter of 2016, the number of active LTE subscriptions in Zimbabwe increased by 23% reaching 152,782 from the previous quarter's total of 124,179 active subscriptions.

ICT Minister comments on suspension of mobile promos, draws link to operators’ resistance to lower tariffs
Mandiwanzira pointed out that while he was yet to meet with the telecoms regulator POTRAZ to get a full explanation for the suspensions, his own interpretation so far was that this could be the regulator's response to the mobile networks' attempts to fight a tariff reduction while offering their services at a discount.

Zimbabwe's national voice traffic declined by 15.3% in the first quarter of 2016. Approximately 1,007 billion voice minutes were recorded between January and March 2016, a drop from the 1.2 billion voice minutes recorded in the last quarter of 2015.
