SmartBiz works on a separate Econet data line which can be bought at any Econet shop in Zimbabwe. One you have a SmartBiz line you can buy more data via the regular Data Bundles USSD code *143# or *543#

The price of the package depends on the internet speed you get and also the Fair Usage Policy soft cap. The lower the internet speed, the cheaper the package.

Smart4You Unlimited Data Bundles
In addition to SmartBiz, Econet has been running an invite only Unlimited Data Bundle experiment called Smart4You since September 2024. Prices for Unlimited Data offered range from $15 per month to $195. The price and data is customized for each subscriber taking into account their typical usage before making an offer via SMS.
It’s not clear when the company will open this up to all its customers and if they will make this part of SmartBiz.

– dial *543# and select option “1. SmartBiz Subscription“
– Enter the package you want
– Enter the mobile number for the SmartBiz data line
– Make payment
It’s best to have a separate Mi-Fi device yes.
However, you can also put the data line in a regular smartphone.
It’s an amount of data equivalent to 1,000 Gigabytes (GB). Here’s a rough summary of data amounts:
1 Megabyte = 1,000 Kilobytes (KB)
1 Gigabyte = 1,000 Megabytes (MB)
1 Terabyte = 1,000 Gigabytes (GB)
The Fair Usage Policy cap is how much data you can use at the set internet speed. After you have exhausted that amount of data, the internet speed will be throttled to whatever Econet can manage to spare for you. You will still be able to use the internet but it may be a lot slower.
For example, on the $45 package, you will, use the internet at 5 Mbps speed until you have used 1 Terabyte (TB) of data. After that it may reduce to 1Mbps.

From what we can tell, Econet envisioned SmartBiz would be relevant to small businesses. However the product became quite popular quickly will customer just looking for unlimited internet data in general.
