Here’s why your TelOne ADSL service has been very slow lately

Over the past couple of days users of TelOne's ADSL broadband service have complained that the internet's been very slow, erratic and, in some cases no internet at all to speak of. We contacted TelOne to establish what the problem is and the company says they (well, their partner in Mozambique) suffered a service failure and they had to reroute internet traffic to some not so good routes.

Hackers hit ICT Ministry’s e-Tech Africa website

A website belonging to Zimbabwe's Ministry of ICT has been hacked. The website, on address www.etechafrica.co.zw, is the tech ministry site for the e-Tech Africa expo, the first of which was held last year. The hack is hard to notice as the attackers didn't deface the site's own pages, but introduced new ones, such as this one called root.

The lid is finally starting to come off on the circumstances surrounding Francis Mawindi's sudden 'voluntary' exit from Telecel two months. A report just posted on NewsDay today reveals that the former Telecel Zimbabwe CEO, Francis Mawindi was fired from his job. The official position from Telecel is that Mawindi "decided to pursue other opportunities outside the group", which from this latest revelation is likely not true.

Government to Telecel: Transfer shareholding to locals first to renew license

The government of Zimbabwe has told Telecel Zimbabwe to sort out its long pending shareholding issues first, before they can be eligible for their mobile network license renewal. The announcement was made along with the announcement of the new license fees that have already been put in place. Telecel's 15 year license, which they got back in 1998, is now due for renewal.
